Today, almost half of the world’s population uses a smartphone. The average time people spend on their cell phones in 2021 was almost 155 minutes per day. The advent of the smartphone era has had many positive effects, such as making it easier to search for information and increasing productivity. However, the increasing use of smartphones has also led to a decline in the well-being of users. There is a tendency for users, especially young adults, to become dependent on their smartphones. In a pilot study, the reduction of smartphone time was evaluated using the Bonanza Box®. Each participant received a Bonanza Box® at the start of the study.
Screen time was recorded at the beginning and after one month of using the Bonanza Box®. On average, a statistically significant reduction in screen time of around 35 minutes per day was observed among users. With an average screen time of 200 minutes per day, the study participants exceeded the global average daily usage by around 45 minutes. This indicates that the participants in this study were probably at a higher risk of problematic smartphone use compared to the global average (source: Psychology in Austria, 2024).
As we are constantly striving to further develop and improve the Bonanza Box®, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. With your experience and know-how, you can support our efforts to make the Bonanza Box® even better.
